If you have Spotify and a fan of rap music, then search ‘C.KHiD’ today. The rapper who was kind of a big deal on YouTube a few years ago mysteriously disappeared for 4 years. Now, it appears the rapper is back to Hip-Hop. The South Carolina rapper leaked 2 new songs for summer 2019 via Spotify without a single promotion.
The titles of the new tracks are ‘IYKB’ and ‘Las Vegas.’ The rapper has an upbeat flow with no loss of edge to his unique, punch-line coded style. The production, however, sounds upgraded on Las Vegas, while the other could use some touch-ups.
According to other rap blogs, ‘Las Vegas’ beat was made by Atlantic Records signed producer Dopant Beats. On Instagram, C.KHiD credits a new trackmaker (from an Indiana fine arts high school) named Amusan C for the ‘If You Knew Better” single. It’s assumed the long-time production collaborator, Dres’more handled the final engineering and mastering.
If classifying the two songs, the style of ‘bounce rap’ comes to mind. These are thoroughly ripe for music festivals this summer. However, without C.KHiD promoting the singles, it’s unclear if these will be any live performances coming.
The rapper took a long hiatus from music that spanned nearly half a decade. Mr ‘Ayo’ spent time in the Dominican Republic, where he’s believed to have a family. It was from there he shared social media updates and uploaded his latest music videos. Me, Rich Life Forever, and COLG were all filmed on the beautiful tropical island.
According to his Instagram stories during the time, C.KHiD also made his way to Central Europe. He spent months living in the countries of Italy, Serbia, Hungary, and Croatia. Photos taken of the rapper while visiting these countries became the updated album cover artworks for 2 albums. “Black Box Dream 3” album artwork features C.KHiD standing in front of the historic Budapest (HU) skyline. The album “Black Box Dreams 5” artwork features the rapper on Positano Beach, a part of Italy’s Amalfi Coastline. This beach is very famous in rap culture because of Jay-Z’s mentioning of the coast in his verse on Beyonce’s song “Upgrade You.” The couple has cruised the Italian shoreline a bunch of times (see here) in their private yacht.
Find C.KHiD’s new songs of 2019 & more on Spotify, Tidal, and other streaming sites. His constant changes to album releases have made keeping up with stream counts near impossible. However, it’s likely his recently removed release, ‘New Rap Songs’ had the most plays of all albums. The track ‘Yeah Yeah’ is the most played song to date on all platforms, including YouTube. The official video has over 3-million-views to date.
