At some point in our lives, we all may struggle with Mental Health issues such as depression or anxiety. When we find ourselves in difficult life situations and struggle with a positive mood or thinking abilities, it is not always easy to find a resolution. Here are 6 Excellent ways to Improve Mental Health.

Exercise

Exercise is effective for mental health because of aids our bodies in the production of endorphins. Endorphins are a hormone in the human body that can be compared to a morphine-like substance originating from within the body. This Morphine-like substance has the job to block pain and also to produce a feeling of euphoria very similar to that produced by opioids. In short, exercise gives the body a Natural High.

Exercise can be fun and doesn’t have to be associated with pain and physical discomfort. A few examples of a fun way to include exercise are going for a vigorous walk or swim or try turning up your favorite dance beats and get busy with your best dance moves.

Proper Diet

We have all heard the expression, ‘you are what you eat’. There is a good reason that this expression is 100% true. Our daily eating routine feeds our minds and bodies, and it provides the cells with its ability to repair, strengthen and renew. Another true expression is, ‘garbage in, garbage out’. So, if sugar and carbs dominate our daily eating regimen, then our bodies simply don’t have the tools it needs to improve our ‘Brain Health’.

Drugs, needless to say, cause a powerful negative effect on mental health. Consult your doctor for a Brain healthy diet Regimen. Also, self-analyze your daily eating habits. Make a list of Raw Healthy Foods that you enjoy eating and work to incorporate them in place of unhealthy options. Please don’t forget to drink lots of water!

Medical Detox (DT)

Abuse of Drugs and Alcohol are a detriment to a Healthy Mental State. Unhealthy abuses can induce some psychiatric disorders in certain individuals leading to schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, and various personality disorders. Whether a person struggles with Narcotics or Alcohol, attempting to Detox alone can be extremely difficult and dangerous.

However, medical detox is well worth the effort and can help restore mental stability, family relations and the ability to achieve positive goals in one’s life. However, professional help is readily available and can be a force for helping a person remain drug and alcohol-free. However, Drug Treatment Centers should be researched to determine the correct fit for the individual.

Positive Support

Surrounding yourself with positive individuals is a sure way to increase mental health. Positive people can provide a needed listening ear or offer great advice and counsel. Negative people tend to have negative energy. They suck the beauty out of life. Hope, Joy, and Love are the elements that make a person positive. Even in bad circumstances, hope can keep a person alive and out of deep depression. Start by making a list of the positive and negative energy people in your life. Next, take active steps to remove or distance yourself from the negative energy that weighs down positive Mental Health.

A Vacation

Stress from a job, family responsibilities, financial woes or family issues can negatively impact our Mental Health. A vacation can be helpful in various ways. First, when I have something to look forward to and the thought process of planning a getaway greatly improves my mood. Second, when I am able to take a getaway it helps me to forget the pressure and stress that daily life issues can create.

A getaway doesn’t have to be expensive. For example, try exploring a nearby town’s historical sites. Delving into your town’s past, visiting local museums or taking advantage of surrounding natural resources by camping or hiking are exciting and inexpensive ways to take a break.

Sleep Habits

Does poor sleep habits plague your life? Not getting the proper amount of rest can deprive your brain of the resources needed to restore, rebuild and repair from the previous hectic day. Sleep deprivation can impair the quality of life and also contribute to psychosomatic disorders. A proper night’s sleep is a necessary requirement for a healthy mental state. Each individual may require a different amount, such as 6 – 8 hours. However, waking up feeling refresh really contributes to a positive outlook and good Mental Health.

Each of these suggestions for Improving Mental Health can help take control of your Mental State. It can be a catalyst for Improving your Mental Outlook and Helping ones take Positive Action. Moving forward and Improving one’s Mental Health is a motivating force to Creating a Better Life.
