5 Best Places for College Students to Travel Pin It

No catchy introductions to grab your attention, no fine words to start the article. Let PaperCheap team get down to business and list 5 best places to travel for college students.

5. Mykonos, Greece: One of the Most Beautiful Places to Travel for College Students

Mykonos is a small granite island that appeared from the abyss of the Aegean Sea and ancient legends. This used to be one of the most impoverished islands in Greece. Today Mykonos is a magnet for party animals, the movie starts and acid travelers.

They say the Mykonos landscapes were the inspiration behind the Greek flag – blue curves of waves and white lines of sand. History and mythology are the most valuable attributes of this place. Here is how it all started – Poseidon hit the rocks with his trident and created a myriad of islands. And the island itself rests on the shoulders of titans which were defeated by Hercules. You can hear their snoring shaking the ground at night. Antiquity heroes and Greek Gods used to lounge on Mykonos. These days this is a playground for thousands of tourists.

Greeks considered the sea to be Poseidon’s residence. It is the right time to visit him. You realize that ancient people were not far off their guesstimate as you go underwater. The bottom of the Aegean Sea is like a parallel universe with its marvelous fields, mountains, and azure sky. Myriads of amazing creatures inhabit this world – starfish, angry moray eel, barracudas, etc. However, this is not the main reason to go diving on Mykonos. The local shtick is an underwater city. The sludge and sand buried it over time, but you can still see amphora fragments here and there.

If we’re talking about affordable travel, we need to mention Super Paradise Beach – the hottest hangout spot on Mykonos and a great place for a beach party. At night, Mykonos turns into a one big party. The music at the beach is blasting as the club lights go on. Good thing that most of the beach clubs have a free entrance. You can dance and get your groove on for as long as your soul desires. It sounds perfect for a college student travel, does not it?

What makes Mykonos one of the best places for college students to travel? Plenty of inlets and lagoons where you can swim all by yourself. And a piece of advice for guys, the best compliment for a blue-eyed girl would be to hear that her eyes are the color of the Aegean Sea.

4. One of the Best Places for College Students to Travel in Europe: Berlin, Germany

Berlin is a flighty capital of a diligent country. A haven of young, carefree people who are ready to party the night away. Attention, spoiler! It will be a really strange, wrong, and mega-bright weekend! But let us start from more common reasons to travel to Berlin.

Germans love an order in everything, even in disordered things like the homeless. They are provided with food, lodging, cultural events, free visits to museums. Here you can get many stuffs for free. In Berlin, there is even such thing as food sharing – the rich people give, the poor ones take. Refrigerators are placed throughout the city where you can leave the products or take ones.

However, when it comes to traveling to Europe and Germany, you can easily see such thing as a flash mob – let’s take international action “a day without pants” as an example. People ride the subway with no pants and make a deadpan. This is Berlin, baby! And what was the purpose? No one! Just hype and cool pictures! Berlin is the most club metropolis of Europe. How did it happen? They say when the Berlin Wall was destroyed the whole of Berlin began to celebrate. And it has not stopped until now. So, one more unusual thing in Berlin – karaoke which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Here there is no music, they turn on an X-rated film, and you voice it.

Actually, it was Berlin that kept all the secrets of world politics. There is the Glienicke Bridge known as the “Spy Bridge”. Those who watched the movie remember that it was the place where the Soviet and American intelligence services exchanged arrested spies (watch it, if you did not see it). So, the museum of espionage is a discovery for a curious tourist. Each exhibit here is an exclusive. Spy equipment is given by real intelligent services – from Enigma to a lipstick that can shot, devices for eavesdropping, poisons, and secret vaults. And you can touch and feel everything.

Believe us, after the weekend in Berlin you want to ask yourself – “What was that?” And repeat it!

3. Goa, India

This is 100km of beaches, eternal summer, and infinite freedom. Goa is a whole state of an India which is located on the coast of the Arabian Sea. Being the size of a pea, Goa has thousands of bars, 7078 officially registered. So, it’s not surprising students like to come here.

Yes, the streets of Goa are littered with garbage. There is no culture of cleaning. Locals live quietly among the trash guided by the principle “Where I threw it, there is a litter-box”. So, why is it one of the best places for college students to travel? Of course, the garbage is striking, and everything is so scattered around. But then you realize that all this chaos is the harmony of Goa. There is no right or wrong, clean or dirty, there is some kind of naturalness. And then, as soon as you leave the dusty streets, you get such a beautiful view – palm trees, bays, the ocean – another place of contrasts.

The place we recommend you to go to is Arambol Beach. Every evening this spot gathers all sorts of geeks from all over the world. They sing mantras, weave dreadlocks, heal with pins, practice magic vibrations, knock on a bowl on their heads and of course, sell rubbish for tourists. It is something you need to see.

We could not help but mention a distant attraction of Goa where ordinary tourists rarely get – the Dudhsagar Waterfall, the highest and the most beautiful place to visit.

For someone, Goa is a paradise on the Earth. For someone – garbage dump. Someone comes here for spiritual enlightenment, and someone – to have carefree fun. But in any case, Goa has a beautiful nature and the title of one of the most affordable sea resorts.

2. Oslo, Norway

Being the third greenest city in Europe, Oslo impresses you not only by the mountains plunging into the sea and unforgettable northern lights but by protecting its environment and natural heritage. Eco-efficiency is vital in this city, and it begins with the involvement of grassroots. Due to Norway environmental laws, the buildings over 500 square meters have to cover 60 percent of their using renewable sources. Moreover, revenues generated by $50 per ton of carbon tax can finance some innovative technologies.

Wooded hills and picturesque lakes surround Norway’s capital. 242 out of 454 square kilometers of this green city covered by dense forests. More than two-thirds of Oslo’s territory are protected natural areas. Biogas production from organic waste proves the fact that this city intends to be in a list of the eco-friendliest cities for a long time. It has more than 700 charging stations for energy-saving electric vehicles.

The streets of Oslo look fantastic due to local contributions being made to keep the area sustainable and highly functioning for all of its residents. You should travel to Oslo just to see how all of that works.

1. Havana, Cuba

There are no such places in our world. Think of another megacity where 2 million people live, and they have no traffic jams at all. Think of another megacity where only two skyscrapers exist? No neon billboards and American fast food! Just think, in the country where the Internet has just appeared, where the cars are being driven, and there are all the conveniences to consider it a megacity still exists blood sacrificing rituals.

It is Cuba, baby!

All the megacities we have mentioned before represent young, energetic, ambitious people, but Havana represents the sweet old lady who is dancing salsa and smoking a cigar. Yes, the quality of life in London or Vienne is much higher than in Havana. But the thing is that you can walk down the street somewhere in Europe, greet the person and one won’t tell you anything back! In Cuba, you will always get a response. Moreover, the owner of the house will definitely invite you to pay a visit.

When Europeans are all about earnings and gadgets, Cuban people are all about sincerity and nirvana (with no drugs). They have no money to buy any smartphone or to provide Internet service, but they are truly happy enjoying the small things.

The evening is the time for people of Havana to meet at the Malecon embarkment and has endless fun. People here entertain themselves. They sing Latin songs, dance hot salsa and the official sponsor of all this fun is the cheap Cuban rum.

Speaking of which, “El Floridita” in Havana is a spot where “Daiquiri” was made. It used to be a favorite pub of Ernest Hemingway. Once upon a time he was walking down the street and decided to use the local restroom. But the barman offered him a new cocktail “Daiquiri”. Hemingway tried it and said to get rid of sugar and add double rum there. “He looked at the clear part below the trapped top, and it reminded him of the sea”. Now, you got to the condition Hemingway used to write his novels at.

So, “If I disappear one day, go to search for me to Havana.”
